Poetry by Nanette Orange

The Departing Leaves

From the same oak tree we've budded,
swaying and soaring from branches.
With pride, we paraded our hues.
Together, we were verdant.

Upon earth, we will scatter
and travel unknown dimensions,
swept along new roads
as the wind dances and whispers.

Before departing, we will leave
our spirits for future buds,
so others may bloom as we have,
flourishing their own memories.

The time we shared was seasonal,
but our memories are undying.
Now, Nature's aid will escort us
to new zeniths and horizons.

Though different paths we'll journey,
our cores will remain connected,
because deep roots have been buried
within the tree we know as home.
